This page explains what information Phuot Da Nang (phuotdanang.com) receives when you read guides, ask questions, use a member account or submit a story, and how we use it.

1. Information we receive

Member account: your name, email address and password (stored in hashed form; we cannot read it).

Content you submit: member stories, photos and your confirmation of photo usage rights; questions sent to Hoi Phuot or the on-site assistant.

Technical information: IP address, browser, device and the pages you view, recorded by our server when you visit.

2. Hoi Phuot and the AI assistant

To prepare an answer, your question is sent to an AI model provider (Anthropic or Google) and may be used to search the web for sources. Do not include names, phone numbers, home addresses or private plans in a question.

A main question you agree to publish appears publicly with its answer and is kept long term in the Hoi Phuot library for other readers. Read counts of these questions are used to rank the top questions. Public questions are not shown with the asker's name or account.

Follow-up questions are private: their processing data is kept for at most 24 hours and reaches our editors only if you choose to send it.

Chat history is stored in your own browser for at most 24 hours and is not synchronised across devices. You can clear it at any time.

3. How we use information

To run the website and your account; review and display your submissions; answer questions; prevent spam and abuse; and measure readership so we know which guides are useful and can improve them.

4. Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies keep you signed in, remember your language and protect forms. View counts shown on guides count at most once per IP address per day and are not used to identify individuals.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser; some features, such as signing in, may then stop working.

5. Account shared with VietnamBackpackers

VietnamBackpackers.vn and the Phuot Hanoi, Phuot Da Nang and Phuot Saigon websites are run by the same operator and share one account system: the same email and password work on all of them (you sign in separately on each domain). Your stories, drafts and activity are kept separate per website; this site does not show your activity from the others.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Approved public content (display name, stories, photos, public questions) can be seen by anyone. Otherwise, information is passed only to providers needed to run the service (hosting, AI models, Google Analytics) or where the law requires it.

7. Your rights

You can change your name and email on your account page. To request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, or removal of a published story or question, email us from the address linked to your account.

8. Security

The site uses encrypted HTTPS connections and restricts administrative access to data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a unique password for this account.
